Introduction, Recommendations and Barrier Free Functions
Bankokubashi is a concrete arch bridge over the canal between the Kita-Nakadori area and the Mirai-Shinko area. Bankokubashi Dori Avenue goes over the bridge from Bashamichi. Its history is old, and it’s served as a gateway to the wharf for years.
The initial bridge withstood the Kanto Great Earthquake without having serious damages, but since the traffic got heavier, it was replaced with the wider, tougher, current concrete arch bridge in 1940, Showa Year 15.
In 1991, Heisei 3, it was certified as one of Kanagawa’s 100 bridges. These days, it is a major spot to enjoy the Yokohama night view as one of the best places where The Landmark Tower and Queens Square can be seen most beautifully.
The bridge has a car park available for 300 yen every 60 minutes with a validation card.
